The departure can be made on the evening of the 28th with night navigation and arrival in Othoni (Fanò) on the 29th morning, or departure on the 29th morning and arrival in Othoni in the late afternoon.
In Othoni the mooring will be at anchor in the old port.
Another island near Othoni is Erikoussa (Merlera). Here the general mooring is in the harbor, but where there is room in the port you can go to the quay.
South of Merlera there is Diakopo (Daiplo Island), a small uninhabited island with crystal clear sea.
If the weather permits you can make a stop in Sidari. The condition that allows us to stop is that there is no sea from the north as Sidari does not have a port and mooring is carried out on a quay facing north.
Along the north coast of Corfu you can make stops in very beautiful bays that are often rarely frequented by other boats.
A port to consider for mooring on the quay is Gouvia which is located about 15 minutes by bus from Corfu town. Gouvia has a very large marina and despite being a period in which there are many boats, mooring is generally available (mooring for one night is around €150). Mooring in Corfu town is a little more difficult to find in that period, because there are few places on the quay.
Generally when we moor in the harbor in Corfu town we are no further than 70-80 meters from the disembarkation point with the tender.
Considering that it is a 9-day cruise, you can get to the island of Paxos and Antipaxos. The mooring here is in the harbor.
It is also possible to go to Sivota, which is located on the mainland. Here too the mooring is in the harbor and there is rarely room on the quay.
A consideration to make is that at anchor you are normally better off because you are still exposed to the night and day breeze, while at the dock, considering the period, you suffer a little from the heat. Furthermore, in most of the stops at anchor the sea is clean, clear and invites you to take a swim.
These are the possible stops in general. The fact remains that you can decide to do one thing rather than another and only for the safety of navigation and the crew are the decisions left to the commander. For the rest you can decide together where to go and when, after having explained from time to time the duration of the navigation and everything it entails.
On board the catamaran there are many comforts, including the BBQ, which is often only used at anchor for obvious safety reasons.
The catamaran has 12 beds distributed in:
4 French doubles
2 bunk beds
Skipper and second sailor sleep outside deck in unfavorable weather
The exterior is totally open and when you are stationary you set up the tent that entirely covers the cockpit.
The water tank capacity is 1000 liters and it is very likely that in 9 days it will have to be replenished at least once and this is feasible in Gouvia or Merlera.
The cost of the catamaran is 700 euros per day and includes:
Tender
Outboard
Sheet
Towels and bath towel
The use of all available sails
Does not include:
Diesel (which varies depending on the weather conditions that can be found and in any case from experience it does not exceed 400 liters of consumption)
The tepai (monthly entry fee to Greece of 120 euros). This tax should be paid twice at the end of July and the beginning of August, but if you avoid places with Greek captaincy for the end of July you can only pay in August.
Mooring in the port. In Merlera it could cost 30 euros per day, in Gouvia around 150 euros per day, in Corfu around 100 euros per day (without any electricity and water service unlike Merlera and Gouvia).
The galley (the food, for which the crew must also be counted)
The price of 700 euros per day is finite and considered as such for an educational cruise, which means that under the flag of UISP and of our Amateur Sports Association the purpose of the cruise is to learn the rudiments of sailing at sea. The cost includes membership.
If you do not wish to leave with the Educational Cruise formula, a 20% tax for occasional rental must be added to the daily cost.
Navigation to Greece and back is subject to favorable weather conditions, which means that decisions to navigate safely belong to the captain of the vessel and are not contestable.
The captain will make the crew aware of all the situations that can be experienced on board as the crew must be aware of them. Under favorable conditions all decisions are made together.
